Who am I?
I’m Elizabeth Holly and I write fiction. My focus is women’s fiction but I also write adult Sci-Fi & Fantasy.
I struggle with Major Depressive and Generalized Anxiety Disorders, Chronic Migraines and Fibromyalgia. Although I’m a writer, I don’t have pretty words to make them sound fun. It’s not fun, but it is a big part of my life which is why I write about it.
My husband and I married in 2007 and without him, I wouldn’t have had hope in my dark life. So after his persistence and patience, I agreed to life, love, and friendship. Now we have three kids.
Compassionate, complicated, and sassy – That’s how my husband describes me. He’s not wrong, but you can’t tell him that because I’ll never live it down.
My hobbies range from sewing, quilting, knitting, computer gaming, doodling, playing games on Steam, Googling random things like the fact that ravens mimic wolves to trick them into partially eating their prey when ravens can’t penetrate the carcass.
I roast my own coffee beans and love love love iced herbal tea. Reading and writing are not hobbies to me, they are things I cannot live without. Books are my life. Thanks to my mom, I picked up a healthy reading habit around six years old, same with writing.
It started with nightmares at age 6. My parents, mom especially, loved horror movies. Any and all. So she would have me write stories to cope with the night terrors and insomnia. The rest just gets more complicated after that. I write about people and why people do the things they do. Nothing fascinates me more than trying to understand why people behave the way they do and then writing about it or using stories to figure out why a person would do something. This has the consequence of compassion attached to it. I understand that people can make poor decisions. Who hasn’t? I know I have but I am working on not dwelling and moving forward to live up to my dreams so I create the future I want and inspire others to do to the same.
